Barium & Chemicals, Inc.
Barium & Chemicals, Inc. was originally organized in 1916 as the J.H.R. Products Company to produce Barium Peroxide for the subsequent manufacture of Hydrogen Peroxide. The plant was located at Willoughby, Ohio, which is approximately 20 miles east of Cleveland.
In 1937, the company was reorganized as Barium & Chemicals, Inc. and expanded both in personnel and property. In addition, new products were added to the product line.
In 1960 the company purchased a plant in Steubenville, Ohio, which comprises approximately 180,000 sq. ft. on 40 acres of land. The land is adjacent to the Ohio River. Chemical processing equipment and operations were moved to Steubenville over a three-year period, and the Willoughby plant was phased out by 1963.
Since then, the company has expanded its product line to a point where we supply over 80 high quality compounds which are used in various industries. Its growth and success is attributed to high standards of quality and diligence in handling customers' requirements.
While the company has grown in personnel and property, it has installed much new and modern equipment. The installation of new processing equipment enables the company to produce compounds of Barium and Strontium more efficiently, and has enabled the company to remain competitive. It is interesting to note that Barium & Chemicals, Inc. is one of the few remaining independent chemical companies which has survived over the years. With this history, we look forward to the future.
Serving industry since 1916, Barium & Chemicals, Inc. has concentrated on production of a complete line of Barium, Strontium, and Calcium compounds, and also some Potassium, Antimony and Lithium compounds, as well as some Metallurgical specialties. We produce these materials in technical and purified grades to assure you of the best performance at the lowest cost consistent with high quality.
